New missile test taking place this weekend in Alaska, according to the Coast Guard

The US Coast Guard has notified mariners that a rocket launch is expected to take place on Saturday, between 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. according to CNN.

There are also alternative times on Sunday and Monday. The test is expected to take place from the Kodiak Narrow Cape Launch Facility.

The military successfully tested a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile earlier this month in Alaska. The system is designed to intercept incoming ballistic missiles.

North Korea recently tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), however, the THAAD test was not in response to that and had been planned for several months.

However, this week, US Defense officials say North Korea might be preparing for another missile test and it could take place to coincide with an upcoming holiday for North Korea on July 27th.
