Man found seriously burned next to car in Colorado Springs, arson investigators on scene

Colorado Springs arson investigators and the CSPD are trying to figure out what led to a fire that left a man seriously burned.

Rescue crews were called to the Candlewood Apartments- on Van Teylingen Drive around 2 a.m. Wednesday, for a report of a man on fire. That’s near Austin Bluffs and Academy.

Police say the victim was lying next to a car that was engulfed in flames. Officers think the man is in his 20s.

Arson investigators are searching for evidence of foul play, but say they are leaning toward an accident. They are also not ruling out a suicide attempt. Witnesses also say there was no one with him.

Investigators say the man’s vehicle has Virginia license plates.
