Road rage in the Pikes Peak Region

A lot of us will hit the road this Fourth of July weekend. Triple A expects record travel numbers. But will you be able to share the road without yelling, tailgating or fighting with other drivers.

Across the country, incidents of road rage have become everyday occurrences. In the Pikes Peak region, drives aren’t any better off.

A driver in Colorado Springs clipped a biker about a year ago, and the video went viral.

Many people around Colorado Springs say they’ve experienced road rage.

“This lady in a small SUV came by and was like ‘You’re out in the road,'” said tourist Richard Blaloc.

“I’ve heard people yelling at each other. I hear a lot of honking mostly,” said resident Chuch Doudna.

If it happens to you, the best thing to do is look straight ahead, pull off on the side of the road and keep your window rolled up.

“People fail to disengage. If you’re driving in your vehicle and somebody is aggressively engaging with you, turn off at the next safe turn and get away from the situation,” said Jackie Kirby with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
