New study connects marijuana with car crashes
Car accidents have gone up almost 3 percent in Colorado, Washington and Oregon since 2013. A new study is saying it may be due to recreational marijuana.
The study was conducted by the Highway Loss Data Institute. People in Colorado Springs, and even tourists, don’t seem to be surprised.
According to the study, more drivers admit to using marijuana before getting behind the wheel and it’s showing up more frequently amongst people involved in crashes.
Car crashes across the state started to rise in 2013, and insurance groups are keeping an eye on these claims.
Attorney Edrward Lomena with McDivitt Law Firm says, “It is very inconclusive. Based on this study, it’s very hard to tell whether or not legalization has genuinely lead to more accidents.
