Man rams police car in stolen vehicle in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Police have arrested a man for ramming into a police car and leading officers on a chase on South Academy Blvd.

Police were called to the area around 12:00 am on Monday morning, to help a citizen who had located his stolen vehicle.

When police tried to stop the driver in the suspected stolen car, he rammed a police vehicle and took off. Officers chased him in the damaged vehicle. The suspect then left the roadway on the 1900 block of South Murray Blvd. and drove east through a field and onto a bike path.

The suspect ended up approaching a homeless camp, and when the officers saw that, they rammed the back of the vehicle to stop him, because they thought the man was going to seriously hurt or kill someone.

The suspect was taken into custody, he’s identified as 39-year-old Markus Whaley. Whaley was wanted on a felony parole violation for dangerous drugs.
