Several agencies battle large house fire in El Paso County

Crews from several agencies are working on a fully engulfed house fire.

It started around midnight, at a home on Lockridge Drive, northeast of Monument.

The fire was severe enough at one point, that firefighters went to a defensive stance, meaning they were no longer trying to save the structure, but are just trying to keep the flames from spreading.

The homeowners were able to get out, however a pet dog died. A cause has not been released.
