Comcast offering faster internet

Comcast is offering a new service that may be a big hit here in Colorado Springs. Comcast says it’s launching a 1-gigabit-per-second internet service across Colorado, which means your internet could be four times faster than the previous fastest connection.

“For a benefit to a community like Colorado Springs, anytime you bring this kind of speed to a market with this broad of a footprint, it can help and be an economic driver,” said Comcast Vice President of Engineering Mike Spaulding.

This service will be a big factor in the economic growth of Colorado Springs.

“The bottom line is, in the free market economy, if people are willing to pay for it, they’ll get it. And I’m pleased that we got providers now willing to invest in making it available to our residential customers as well as our business customers,” said Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers.

Comcast is offering a promotional deal for those who want to try the new streaming product. It’s $109.99 a month a discount from the regular price which, would be $159.95.

The service was launched Wednesday and is available in Colorado, Northern California, Utah, Kansas City, Houston. Oregon, Seattle, and Southwest Washington.
