Attempted Kidnapping in Colorado Springs

Police are investigating after a report of an attempted kidnapping in Colorado Springs.

A 10-year-old boy says he was approached by a man in an SUV who wanted him to get inside the vehicle Monday afternoon, police said. It happened when the boy was leaving the playground and heading home from Academy International Elementary School on Charity Drive.

The boy says the man first asked him if he wanted a ride. When he refused, the boy says the man yelled at him and ordered him to get in the vehicle. The boy ran off and says the SUV followed him. The boy hid for a few minutes until he says he heard the man drive off, police said.

The vehicle is described as a black SUV, similar to a Toyota 4Runner with running boards. The boy says it had chrome windows and tinted windows. No description of the driver is available.
