Snow is on the way, are you ready?

With snow on the way, many people are trying to prepare for the April freeze. Only a few weeks ago, another snowstorm brought heavy snow to the area and caused large tree limbs to fall. Now people are making sure they are prepared so it doesn’t happen again.

Make sure you cut back any excess tree branches and limbs that may fall if the heavy snow piles up. If you have flowers that you need to cover, the type of flower will indicate how to take care of it.

Perennials should be OK to survive a freeze. Cover them with a tarp or a special plant cover. After the freeze make sure to pull off any dead flower heads to make sure they grow back nice and full. You can also use freeze sprays that will allow the flowers an extra 9 degrees before they begin to freeze.

For annual flowers, your best bet is to take them inside. Most of them are not well equipped for the snow, so if you have annuals in pots, the garage might be the safest place for them.
