Updates to drought relief

The latest drought monitor indicates relief to dry conditions across southern Colorado. Late March and early April rain and snow have truly made a positive impact on our drought situation.

As the National Weather Service discusses, there was a dry and warm trend across the region in February and first part of March. However, late March and early April offered changes with more wet and active weather.

The newest drought monitor, released Thursday, shows that areas of severe drought have been erased. The Pikes Peak region was downgraded from “moderate drought” to “abnormally dry” conditions. Within the far southeastern plains, there are still pockets of “moderate drought.” See the attached photo for additional details.
