Congressman Lamborn speaks in Cripple Creek

Congressman Dour Lamborne’s tour made its way to Canon City and Cripple Creek today. These latest meetings with citizens come a day after Lamborn was met with angry attendees in Colorado Springs.

Many came out to support the congressman and just ask questions.

“The reality is, he’s quite accessible, so I don’t have to come up here to get in contact with him, but it’s nice to be out to support him,” said attendee Dwyane Garmin.

Anne Tobey added, “I just wanted to make sure that this town hall is not hijacked by everybody that thinks Trump is doing a bad job.”

Others came to voice their concerns in a civil manner.

“We’re here today because the last six months of being in Standing Rock and witnessing numerous issues out there. This is my first city hall and it has really plunged me into activism,” said Diana Crow, another attendee.

Today was calm compared to yesterday, when the congressman received backlash the minute he walked into the police station in Colorado Springs.

With yesterday’s meeting being held at a police substation, and at 1:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, many were complaining about how inconvenient it was to attend.

But Congressman Lamborn was not as concerned about the reaction of the crowd today.

“This has been a great tour of the five counties. El Paso was a great county but maybe a little more rambunctious than Teller,” said Lamborn.

Looking forward, he said he just wants people to respect each others’ opinions in the name of democracy.
