Dating website Match has released data from its most recent Singles in America survey on how singles view gender and the role of feminism.

As for the word “feminism,” 37% of single men and 47% of single women view feminism as women being equal to men. 43% of singles believe it means “a lot of different things.”

Single men and women also agree on important issues for women. 90% of both sexes say violence against women is a top issue. They also put equal pay and how accusations of rape are handled high on the list.

Most men also believe feminism has “has changed the dating rules for the better,” while only 35% believe it has changed dating for the worse.

Men and women agree that a “strong woman” has the following traits: confidence (64% of men and 73% women); intelligence (69% of men and 65% of women); and a sense of independence (53% of men and 67% of women).
