Live fire exercises ongoing at Fort Carson

Residents living around Fort Carson should expect to see dust and hear loud noises, as training exercises are carried out.

The training began Tuesday, Feb. 21 and will end on March 24.

The 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Divison and 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division will be training with live ammunition and heavy vehicles throughout the training area. Field training will also include day and night exercises, and will include Stryker vehicles, artillery, aerial gunnery and other heavy weapons.

The purpose of the exercise is to prepare soldiers and leaders of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team and the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade for future deployments, a spokesperson for Fort Carson said.
