Thousands pack Denver for Women’s March

Tens of thousands of people gathered at the state capitol in Denver for the Women’s March on Colorado.

People of all backgrounds came together Saturday morning to show support for women’s rights.

“I believe that there are a lot of issues that we currently need to have a really important dialogue about,” said Wendy Mike.

For much of the morning only a sea of faces could bee seen with no end or beginning in sight.

“It’s for human rights, it’s for climate change, it’s for the LGBTQ community,” Mike Said.

Mike and her friends and family came from Colorado Springs to take part in the march.

“I am a veteran of many marches including some in Washington D.C. and there is nothing like the power of numbers,” said Elizabeth Alvis.

Alvis drove from Genesee to demonstrate for her children

“It’s important for our children, it’s important for our future,” she said.

Most of the protesters said they attended to send a message of change and peace rather than hate.

“We’re not so much here in protest, it’s just for us to stand up and say, this is things we cannot accept and they’re going to change,” Alvis said.

Alvis said she hopes for change and acceptance from the new administration.

There were over 100-thousand people who participated in the march in Denver.
