Wind-driven flames contained at Cherry Creek

Flames were called in by an alert driver around 3 a.m. near a boat ramp in Cherry Creek State Park.

The winds quickly fanned the flames, but crews were able to contain the blaze to only 10 acres.

Firefighters from Cunningham Fire and South Metro Fire were dispatched to battle the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but according to our news partners in Denver officials believe there could be a connection to illegal homeless campers in the park.
