Parks and Wildlife set up Christmas tree donation site

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is accepting used Christmas trees from southern Colroado residents to provide habitats for wildlife in Lake Pueblo State Park and the Apishapa State Wildlife Area. “The tree piles provide security cover from predators to rabbits, to quail, all the way down to the packrat,” said CPW biologist Allen Vitt. “It’s always a good thing to have these habitat types on the land.” The tree recycle drop-off site is at the CPW Archery Range parking lot at 600 Reservoir Road. It will be open to anyone who wants to drive up and drop off a tree. The collection dates are Jan. 2 to 31. Donors are asked to remove any ornaments and tinsel on trees before dropping them off.
