Saint Mary-Corwin to open roof for magnet removal

A portion of the roof of the St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center will be opened at 9 a.m. Thursday in order to facilitate the removal of the hospital’s 16,000-pound MRI magnet.

The magnet’s removal will allow the hospital to clear space for the installation of a new magnet in February of 2017.

The removal will include a 400-ton maximum capacity crane, and begins outside the Dorcy Cancer Center on Lake Avenue.
