Colorado students smoking pot at school

Teenagers are using their lunch breaks to smoke weed and drink alcohol, according Colorado Springs police. Officers have the pictures to prove it.

“My friends do it on a daily basis,” said high school senior, Vincent Gomez.

“They boast about it in the classroom, they’re like yep, we got high in the gym,” said teenager, MaryJoe Inglisa.

High school students in Colorado Springs said they’re smoking pot before, during and after school.

“It’s ridiculous because nobody says anything, it’s just…another kid is high,” said Inglisa.

Colorado teens are now ranked number one in the nation for marijuana use, 74 percent higher than the national average.

School District 11 admits that students are using their lunch or free periods to leave and smoke pot. The district is also seeing an increase of students returning to school high.

“They sneak in the bathroom and smoke, it’s crazy,” said student, Angel Wunder.

Many students are even taking selfies while getting high. Colorado Springs police shared blurred snap chat photos of students.

Officers also said a 10-year-old student was recently caught pawning a knife for marijuana.

“What surprises me is the social acceptance. It’s difficult for me as a parent as well,” said police officer Lisa Cintron.

Doctors argue that smoking marijuana can affect brain development, making it difficult to remember and learn new things, especially in teens and young adults.
