Eldora ski resort preparing new runs as part of expansion

Work on Eldora Mountain Resort’s expansion project is finally underway and new runs at the ski resort could be open by the end of the year. The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/2dz2zG9 ) Eldora General Manager Brent Tregaskis says trees are being cut to make way for three new runs and the replacement of two lifts with a single, high-speed lift. Tregaskis plans for the runs, which add 15 acres of ski space to Eldora, to open up for use around Christmas. The U.S. Forest Service approved the project last year but ordered the resort to hold off on expanding where environmentalists had concerns about potential impacts. Those areas included the Middle Boulder Creek and an associated wildlife corridor. An attorney for the Middle Boulder Creek Coalition praised Eldora for its current expansion activities, calling them “a good investment in sustainability.”
