Beulah family sees support amidst tragedy
While many Beulah residents wait to find out if and when they can return home, others already know their home is gone.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 spoke with one family who lost both of their homes and most of their pets to the wildfire in Beulah.
“We were told that the first responders were there in three minutes, and it was already too late,” said Matt Kindle. “There’s nothing left. It’s all caved in.”
The family says it didn’t feel real until they received a photo of where their house once stood.
“There’s a car then a trailer. It’s destroyed and the car is 3 feet away, completely fine,” described Sarah Harbeck.
The family isn’t just mourning the loss of their house but also their pets.
“Our animals are like our kids. One out our five dogs remain. We had cats and a guinea pig,” said Kindle.
Strangers from all across the state have donated food, water, games and food to the family.
“I get equally choked up about the loss and my gratitude. That’s one thing that’s amazing, the support,” said Kindle.
