Gov. Hickenlooper visits Southern Colorado
Governor John Hickenlooper made a stop in Southern Colorado on Monday afternoon.
Hickenlooper discussed details of the “Ring the Peak Trail” project, which part of his “16 in 16” priority Trail projects at Ute Pass Elementary. He’s traveling the state to check on progress.
” I couldn’t be more tickled to be part of this,” said Hickenlooper. “Ring the Peak is going to be transformational.”
The collaboration between Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the U.S. Forest Service, and El Paso and Teller County crews. It will eventually complete at 70-mile trail system around Pikes Peak.
Hickenlooper has high hopes for the project.
“It will be a national and international destination,” he said.
The Trails and Open Space coalition has submitted a $100,000 grant to help with the project. It’s expected to be completed within the next 20 years.
