Breast cancer survivor thankful for financial help

Susan G. Komen supports millions of women during their treatment for breast cancer. One woman beat the disease and says the financial help relieved her stress.

Emily Williams was diagnosed in 2013. She’s a mother of four and says the number of treatments took a toll on her family. Emily went through two years of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. She was thankful to receive the Sense of Security grant.

It helps patients with transportation, doctor visits or picking up groceries.

“They’re helping not just locally here, but several counties here in Southern Colorado, so that’s huge since so many people need help. It’s a huge relief to make it through treatment with a positive attitude,” says Emily.

Emily now works as the volunteer and affiliate coordinator for Susan G. Komen in Colorado Springs. She hopes the grant will also make a difference in someone else’s life.
