Local organization working to cut down on wild cats in Colorado Springs

A local animal rescue organization dedicated its time towards a catastic mission over the weekend.

Wild Blue Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, with the help of other animal advocate groups, made it their goal to catch over a hundred feral cats and neuter them.

Staff recently discovered 90 to 120 feral cats at three Palmer Lake trailer home parks, and the organization is looking to cut down on the amount of wild cats in that area as well as all over the city.

Wild Blue Animal Rescue and Sanctuary reached out to Happy Cats Haven, PawsCo and St. Paws Thrift Store to help with capture, sterilization, vaccination and return of these felines.

Everyone involved in the trap, neuter, release (TNR) plan were all volunteers. According to Wild Blue staff, they had to return the cats to where they were captured because of the lack of space at their facility.

They are still asking for help. Anyone with vet tech skills or has time to help trap, they can contact Allison at (719) 213-1127. They are also accepting donations of cat food, newspaper, large bath towels, sheets (flat or fitted), plastic pee pads, duct tape, black magic markers at their facility located at 5975 Burgess Road. Monetary donations can be made on their website.
