Police: Fight over woman led to deadly Pueblo shooting

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting on Pueblo’s south side.

The shooting happened at around 4:45 a.m. Thursday near S. Prairie Avenue and O’neal Avenue.

Police say the victim who died was found lying in the middle of the street. He has been identified as Daniel Leyba, 34.

The other victim was found in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. That person’s name has not been released.

Police say a fight between Leyba and another man over a woman preceded the shooting.

Witnesses told officers that they saw two vehicles leaving the area after the shooting. Detailed descriptions of the vehicles are not available, but police say the witnesses said one of the vehicles was silver with tinted windows and the other was a dark colored sedan.
