Trump looks to shore up base with Saturday stop in Springs
As Hillary Clinton returns to the campaign trail in Battleground North Carolina Thursday, Donald Trump is getting set to return to Colorado for a Saturday night rally at the Jet Center adjacent to the Colorado Springs Airport.
A new poll released from Emerson College shows Trump leading Clinton 42-38 in Colorado.
Undecided millennial Mark Rantal is anxious to hear what the GOP presidential nominee has to say.
“I want to listen more,” Rantal said. “People have stopped doing that. And the moment I decide is the moment I close my ears to one side of the argument.”
Unenthused Trump supporter, Mark Clark, wants Trump’s Colorado Springs speech to focus on his plan for the economy.
“Trump says he’s going to make it great again and I want to know how,” Clark said.
“To win in Colorado you need to drive up the Republican score in El Paso and Douglas counties to counter what comes out of Denver and Boulder counties,” Trump’s state political director Patrick Davis said.
In a statement, Clinton’s state political director, Emmy Ruiz said of their opponent’s visit:
“When trump visits this weekend, he should explain to veterans why he believes our military is a “disaster” or why he repeatedly attacked a gold star family who lost their son to a war defending our country.”
The Saturday rally begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
