Sheriff’s Office says illegal marijuana grow busted in El Paso County

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says marijuana plants and guns were seized during a marijuana grow bust east of Colorado Springs on Wednesday.

The raid happened off of S. Blaney Road, which is south of Highway 94 and west of S. Curtis Road.

Investigators say 175 illegal marijuana plants with a street value of $177,000 and 12 firearms were seized.

The sheriff’s office says some of the marijuana plants were growing outdoors and unsecured.

Colorado law requires marijuana be grown in an enclosed and locked space if the cultivation area is inside a home.

Per county code, only 12 marijuana plants can legally be grown in a home.
