Deputies looking for burglar who snuck into homes to steal keys, vehicles

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says it’s looking for a man who has invited himself inside two Palmer Lake homes.

The crimes happened on September 8 and September 11 between midnight and 2:30 a.m.

Deputies say the man went into the homes through cut screens in an unlocked window, or through unlocked doors while the homeowners were asleep.

The thief took small electronics, wallets, and keys from the homes. The sheriff’s office says he then used those keys to steal the victims’ vehicles.

A total of three vehicles were stolen, one of which has been recovered.

Anyone with information about the man in the surveillance images in this article is asked to call Detective John Watts at 719-520-7025 or email him at johnwatts@elpasoco.com.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office did leave open the possibility that other people may be involved.

The sheriff’s office says it’s important to lock doors and windows when you aren’t at home and during the nighttime hours to deter crimes such as these.
