Access to Denver airport reopened after package checked out

Access to Denver International Airport was reopened Thursday morning after a police bomb squad checked and cleared a suspicious package.

A ramp for dropping off departing passengers was closed and traffic was diverted from the west side of the airport to the east side for several hours.

Ticket counters for American Airlines and Alaska Airlines were closed with no bag check-in while police investigated. The ticket counters later reopened

Passenger Jen Ward said she got nervous when she drove up to the airport for a business trip to Chicago and was confronted with a command center swarming with police and officials.

Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery said some passengers were disrupted while part of the airport was sealed off, but alternate arrangements were made to help passengers make their flights.
