Safety officials urging people to buy preparedness kit
The American Public Health Association is helping to prepare the public for any unexpected disasters.
It is recommending that people have emergency preparedness equipped with items that should have you taken care of for at least 72 hours.
Each one includes water, non perishable foods, a blanket, clothing, a flashlight and a first aid kit.
If you pick one up, you should store them in a cool dry place and update them every so often.
“So when we think of updating our emergency preparedness kits, it’s to check your clocks and change your socks. So, every six months. If you utilize Daylight Saving Time, that’s where the reminder comes into play,” said Margaret Comstock, regional epidemiologist.
A single person kit would generally cost $30 to $50 and should be kept in cars and homes.
