Police: Alcohol behind head-on collision in COS

Police believe alcohol was behind a head-on collision that sent two people to the hospital in Colorado Springs.

The crash happened Monday night as a Mustang was heading the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of N. Carefree with its headlights off, police said. The driver struck another vehicle, head-on, near Pony Tracks Drive.

Both drivers were hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police have closed a stretch of N. Carefree near Pony Tracks Drive for the investigation.

Police expect the driver of the Mustang to face DUI charges.
