Blood donations needed in COS

The blood banks at Penrose St. Francis Health Services are in critical need of donations.

The inventory for all blood types is low.

The health care facilities play a vital role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for those in need in our community,

However, because of summer vacations and the large amount of accidents over the holiday weekend, the need is great.

“A lot of folks think that just because they have an uncommon type like O- then they think they aren’t needed. And that is definitely not true because about 35 percent of the population is O- and 35 percent is O+,” said Carol Ann Books, donation coordinator.

To donate, you can make an appointment or simply stop by the North Nevada Penrose facility.

The blood bank is on the second floor.
