UCCS reveals new veterans center

It was a big day for veterans and military members on UCCS’ campus on Friday who saw the opening of their brand new veterans center.

The McCord-Herbst Center is now open and available to any military members or vets who are looking for resources or simply a place to hang out.

“This type of place is tremendously important. It really provides a support mechanism for a unique group of students. Veteran and military students have been through a lot in the last 10 to 15 years, so we want to provide whatever support they need,” said Philip Morris, program director for veteran and military students.

The center is near the Gateway Garage, close to the center of campus.

UCCS currently has more than 2,000 students associated with the military.
