Our market has been in the national news spotlight several times this year because of the stories that happen here. KRDO NewsChannel 13 has a rare anchor position available and is looking for qualified candidates who want to win and are willing to work hard to serve the viewers of southern Colorado. We take winning seriously.

The ideal candidate will be a newsroom leader with strong on-air presence and an excellent storyteller. Strong live reporting skills are a must. Candidate must have proven experience developing contacts and breaking stories. Shooting and editing experience is a plus. We are looking for someone who sets the tone with credible journalism, can develop a connection with our viewers and create memorable moments in our newscasts. You must be an active participant in editorial decisions and mentoring employees.

You will also make public appearances and represent the station in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Anchor regularly scheduled newscasts. Fill-in anchoring as directed.
Be a newsroom leader.
Attend the daily editorial meeting and pitch stories. Establish and maintain news contacts in the community.
Field anchor big news stories.
Enterprise special reports.
Be a regular contributor on various social media platforms and engage with the public.
Stay informed about content in daily newspapers, competitive websites and follow social media on a regular basis.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or English or equivalent experience
At least 4 years of experience in television news reporting and anchoring
Good attitude and team player
Strong on-air presentation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Must be able to accept constructive criticism designed to enhance performance
Required to cover news stories from the field
Good driving record
