Puppy reunited with owner’s family 2 weeks after car crash

A 7-month-old puppy that was ejected from its owner’s car during a crash in Maine and survived more than two weeks in a wooded area has been reunited with the owner’s family.

The Morning Sentinel newspaper reports the Labrador retriever puppy, Tucker, was found by volunteers from Maine Lost Dog Recovery last week. The volunteers helped set a live trap for the puppy, which was found at the scene of the crash on U.S. Route 201 in Madison.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says Tucker was on the verge of starvation.

Tucker’s owner, Shanya Pottle, was seriously hurt in the Aug. 9 crash. She was taken to a hospital in Skowhegan and later was transferred to another hospital in Portland.

Pottle can’t be reached for comment by telephone. Her condition is unknown.
