Kids sell livestock at fair auction

The largest junior livestock auction happened in Pueblo at the Colorado State Fair.

Kids from all over the state who are participating in 4H and FFA have been raising their animals for a long time and tonight is the culmination of all of their hard work.

Thirteen-year-old Kaden Humrich is a 4H member who has been working with his steer for more than a year. This is his first time participating at the state fair.

“I get sad because, I mean, I work with them, been through a lot with them, they’ve always been there for me when I had problems with people or at school or something. They’ve always been there for me so it’s always been hard to let them go,” Humrich said.

His steer sold for $5,000.

The kids were prepping their animals all morning Tuesday and washing them and blowing them out.

Last year’s grand champ for market beef sold for $60,000.
