Amber Alert deactivated for 3-month-old taken by father

The Colorado Springs Police Department has deactivated the Amber Alert that was issued for a 3-month-old boy on Saturday afternoon.

The Colorado Springs Police Department tweeted that Jonathan Cort Beatty, 39, has been arrested and 3-month-old Blaze is safe.

The alert was issued after Jonathan allegedly threatened to kill both the victim and Blaze, and then drove off with Blaze in his pickup truck.

According to Jonathan’s attorney, Jeremy Loew, the three rode together in Loew’s vehicle to the 5900 block of Castlewood Lane where Jonathan turned himself in peacefully.

Loew tells NewsChannel 13 that Beatty did nothing wrong, saying, “The baby was not kidnapped. He is the boy’s father, and has legal rights to the child”.

It all started with a domestic dispute investigation at the Castlewood Lane location at around 9:15 a.m. earlier that morning.
