Jill Stein stumps in Springs, rallies voters

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein stumped in Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon.

Dozens of supporters joined Stein on a march for peace and justice through downtown.

“I want to thank you for refusing to be silenced,” Stein said, “for refusing to be discouraged, for refusing to give up on our democracy for being to ridiculous, too sold out to pay attention to.”

“There’s no viable path to the White House for this doctor from Massachusetts who’s making her second straight presidential bid.

“It’s time to forget the lesser evil, that hasn’t solved the crisis for us,” Stein told KRDO political reporter Eric Fink. “Trump, a demogauge, a hypocrite. a terrible disaster for America. But Hillary Clinton unfortunately has been the advocate for wall street, for war and for the Walmart economy that has thrown our workers under the bus.

Supporters say Stein is the trustworthy, fresh alternative.

“I’ve never put a bumper sticker on my car or worn a button,” Lucy Tanner said. “But my golly I’m going to this. We have one bad choice and the other bad choice. Jill’s my pick.

Stein is on the ballot in Colorado and polling far behind in a four-way race that includes libertarian Gary Johnson.

“To say no to those other choices is to tell the American people they just have to take it with the rigged economy, this rigged political system, and they don’t appreciate being told they have to go home and forget about it,” she said.

Stein headed to Fort Collins Saturday night, with stops in Denver and Boulder Sunday.

In 2012, Stein received less than one percent of the popular vote.
