Fuel Spill Shuts Down Motor City in Colorado Springs Friday

in colorado springs is in the clear after this morning’s fuel spill. but fountain creek remains threatened by thousands of gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel. krdo newschannel 13’s scott harrison is live at fountain creek regional park in fountain, to update the situation there. scott, it’s been 13 hours now since that spill. authorities have notified everyone between here and pueblo to avoid the creek–to avoid drinking, using or getting into the creek. the spill began around 4 this morning when a fuel tanker overturned in motor city. authorities say around 8- thousand gallons spilled, but only a thousand were recovered. the rest entered a storm drain. motor city didn’t reopen until 1:15 this afternoon. customers couldn’t get here before then. “well, i came here to have an appointment for the recall service and everything was closed. i don’t know, i’ll have to make an appointment again. it’s kind of not good.” at least half the dealers in motor city lost business today. doors were locked and employees were sent home. but some dealers set up in their parking lots and tried to help customers as best as they could. we’ll be back at six with another live update on the progress of cleaning up the spill in fountain creek. live in fountain–scott harrison, krdo newschannel 13. it’s not
