Trump campaign opens office in Colorado Springs

The Donald Trump campaign opened a volunteer office in the Republican stronghold of Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

Hillary Clinton and her team opened an office in the Springs July 3.

“Donald Trump has built an infrastructure around the state of Colorado as quickly as he can,” state director Patrick Davis said. “We have 30 staff on the ground managing thousands of volunteers on the ground. They’ve been doing that for the last year.”

The Trump campaign now has 10 offices open in Battleground Colorado.

Clinton’s team has established 17 offices in the state.

“I don’t think it’s any extra pressure,” Clinton organizer Anthony Carlson said from the office he leads in El Paso County. “We all know the implications of what’s at stake in this election and that’s been driving us since we hit the ground here.”

Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine came to Colorado for the first time. In Lakewood, Kaine hosted a group of small business leaders and hammered Trump for not releasing his tax returns.

“The reason presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates release tax returns is because you have a right to know,” the Virginia senator said. “You may be a Democrat, Republican, Independent, you have a right to know.”
