Project engineer lays out plans for I-25, Cimarron Interchange project

One of the area’s busiest highway interchanges is preparing for a multi-million dollar face lift.

The Interstate 25 and Cimarron Interchange construction project is the second largest highway project in the city’s history.

The project is expected to be finished by December of 2017.

The plan is to transform the old structure into a more efficient and more attractive gateway into the city.

The project is separated into three phases.

“This phase will complete the work on the southbound structures. Phase two will start up later this fall, and that will be working on northbound Interstate 25. And the third phase will wrap up all the construction on the interstate,” said Dave Watt, project engineer.

The city also wants to remind drivers that the area is a work zone, so reduced speeds are required for safety.
