Colorado Proud in COS promoting local grown produce

A group from the Colorado Department of Agriculture made a stop in Colorado Springs on Wednesday.

Colorado Proud is on a one month tour called “Follow Your Fruits and Veggies Journey.”

The purpose of the tour is to educate consumers about locally grown produce and to celebrate the farmers who grow the produce around the state.

On Wednesday, they set up a stand at the Colorado Springs farm and art market and had a message for visitors to buy local.

“We really hope to educate the public about Colorado agriculture and especially local produce, about the bounty we have available in the state and give them the tips and resources that they need to find local products and buy local when they shop. We hope they look for the Colorado Proud logo and buy those local items,” said Wendy White with the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Colorado Springs was just one stop in a 19-stop tour for the Follow Your Fruits and Veggies Journey.
