Puerto Rico delegates looking at Pueblo for guidance

The marijuana industry in Pueblo is drawing the interest of Puerto Rico officials.

Delegates from Puerto Rico are hoping to establish medical-marijuana laws in Puerto Rico similar to Colorado’s.

The group visited with a dispensary owner multiple times and said Pueblo is the perfect city to look at because it has a similar population.

“In a lot of ways, Pueblo had been able to show what it looks like to bring the cannabis market online pretty quickly and the people here are very similar in the sense that it’s a very large Latino population and we can see what it looks like to bring this type of market into this type of community,” said Mark Slaugh, the CEO of iComply.

The governor of Puerto Rico recently issued an executive order to legalize medical marijuana and people are now beginning to apply for licenses.
