Educators: More school protection helping students learn

Teachers, parents and police say threats against students and schools are taking a toll on education.

Educators in Colorado say they are taking steps to reduce the impact of those threats and help students get on with their studies and their lives.

One program provides a website so students can anonymously report potential violence. Another offers programs for teachers and students on how to deal with the trauma and aftermath of disruption to restore their confidence so students can get back to their studies.

School officials say they believe the programs are working, even though the threats are not going away anytime soon.
