Pikes Peak Ascent Runner makes one of “best times in years”
Runners were kicking up dust in Manitou Springs for the annual Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon on Saturday.
Participants for the Ascent began to make their way up the 14er early that morning. Unlike the marathon, those who do the Ascent take the shuttle down after they reach the top.
The champs of Saturday’s race were Joe Gray and Kim Dobson.
Organizers say Gray posted one of the best times they have seen in years, which was 2:05:59. Dobson finished with a time of 2:34:39.

On Sunday, runners doing the marathon portion will make the full trip up and then back down.
