Vehicle investigation closes east gate at Peterson AFB
The east gate of Peterson Air Force Base was closed for an investigation into a vehicle Friday afternoon. The base’s other gates were not affected.
21st Space Wing Public Affairs says a vehicle set off the chemical signature detector at the east gate at around 12:30 p.m. The gate reopened around 2:30 p.m.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office closed Marksheffel Road at Space Village Avenue as a precaution. It has since reopened.
The 21st Space Wing says there is no threat to anyone on or off base and that normal precautionary procedures are being followed.
Nothing dangerous was found in the car.
