Woman found in auction home had been dead for over a year

A woman’s body was discovered in a foreclosed Fountain home, and police believe she may have been there for more than a year.

The home located in the 2000 block of Woodsong Way was bought in an auction by a Colorado Springs realtor. He didn’t go inside until August 11, and that is when he discovered the body.

According to Fountain PD, officers were called to the home for a welfare check months earlier, but by law, they could not enter without a cause.

“First, I thought someone had broken in and was sleeping…they did due diligence. There are weeds all over as tall as I am, it looks abandoned.

Police do not suspect foul play but her cause of death hasn’t been determined.

Her name cannot be released until her family, which is located in Germany, is notified.
