Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon happening this weekend

pikes peak will be overrun by.. runners.. it’s the 61st annual pikes peak ascent and marathon. runners start in manitou springs, and run up the 14’re. 18- hundred runners will take part. the president of the pikes peak marathon explains one big reason why this race is so historic. our real claim to fame is we’re the first marathon to have a woman finish a marathon and that was in 1959 by arlene pipper. events kick off tomorrow night with a block party at the pioneer museum.. a running expo will be held friday.. and the big race starts saturday morning.
