More businesses mean less vacancy in downtown COS
Vacancy rates for businesses in downtown Colorado Springs are down this year.
According to the downtown partnership, only 2.8 percent of retail space downtown is unoccupied.
That’s one of the best numbers the city has seen in years.
“Really we’ve been seeing a lot of historic vacancies filling up, which is a vacancy we’ve had for three or more years…there have been some great new additions like hooked on books which opened on Bijou Street, and we’ve got a spin studio called Cycology on Bijou Street as well,” said Sarah Harris, director of business development.
The partnership credits a strong economy with helping the revitalization, and they see this as a long term trend.
They say the biggest problem on the horizon is a lack of space for business owners who want to relocate downtown.
