Coloradoans can now register to vote via cell phone

The Colorado secretary of state wants to make it easier than ever for you to register to vote.

Now, you can do it from your smartphone.

Just text “Colorado” or “CO” to “2VOTE.”

From there, you will get a message with the link to the online voter registration website.

Voters can use the link to update an address, change party affiliation and more.

It is also designed to bring in more young voters for this year’s election.

“More and more, we’re seeing gen-xers and millennials wanting to do business on their smartphones, because they have all the capabilities of a computer. So by opening this up, it gives one more tool to our citizens,” said Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert Ortiz.

Important dates and deadlines will also be available via text message with the new service.
