Million Father March kicks off in Southern Colorado

It’s back-to-school for students and staff at Harrison School District 2. This morning, father figures are encouraged to walk their kids to school in honor of the Million Father March.

The nationwide event calls for all schools in the U.S. to participate. The annual event is meant for fathers to be more involved with their kids’ first day back to school. The first march was held in 2004 in Chicago and it continues to grow every year. Last year, Colorado school districts in Aurora, Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Denver and Fort Collins all marched.

This year in Colorado Springs, Harrison School District 2 is participating. A march for students and fathers was held at Sierra High School this morning. Panorama Middle School will hold its march at 8:35 a.m.
